BOOT CAMP SAN DIEGO 1951
I’m looking information on my papaws time in service for the Navy.
William Wayne McNaughten
He went to U.S.N.T.C in San Diego, California. April 1 to June 23 of 1951 at
Liberty Station.
Company 394, company commander G.D. Brown B.M.C.
His company was the first company to have 11 weeks of training.
I found a patch with a ship on it, USS LST 1084 which had been renamed USS Polk
County.
On the back of his company photo he has every single name listed that he
graduated boot training with and what their home state is.
Just looking for any information I can find.

My father, CPO Emmuel Randy Brewer, was stationed at the San Diego Naval Base
from 1950-54. I was 3 years old in 1950 and we lived in Naval Enlisted Housing
which was basically a remodeled quonset hut. Dad served on the USS Mispillion
during the Korean War.

My father was enlisted 20 Feb 1952, he went to boot camp at
Camp Elliot March 1952. He contracted Pneumonia while on
guard duty and was medically boarded out of the Navy July
1952. If anyone knew my father during this period I would
be grateful for any information available. My father has
passed from pulmonary issues developed during this timeframe
of service and will be missed. Thank you all for your
service. Anthony D. Henry

My Dad, William (Bill) Maginness went to San Diego in 1952.
I believe in April. I know he was in San Francisco in
November of 1953 as I have a newspaper article regarding a
promotion to Petty Officer Third Class at that time. I also
know that he was eventually stationed at Pearl Harbor before
he came home to Kansas in 1954.
My dad has now passed away, but I am very interested in
learning anything I can about his time in the Navy.
