I see this thread is very old but I too am looking for information on the
Lyman DE-302. My grandfather, Richard Cahill, was on this ship in 1944
and 1945 and I want to learn more about the ship and possibly trade
letters with others who may have served on the ship.

Exhaustive Google searches have turned up limited results. Any help would
be most appreciated.

Heather, go to Google and enter USS Lyman DE 302. You will find the ship listed many times. For the ship's history enter DANFS and when it comes up, click on destroyer escorts. A USS Lyman reunion was held in 2001, and the contact at that time was Harry Pahel (909) 244-4978. You may find Destroyer Escort Association while looking at the USS Lyman listings on Google. If not enter that heading into Google. I checked the Tin Can Sailor site, but nothing was listed there.

Hope this helps.
