Comments:

My father (Robert Keith Lowrey) recently passed away last year at the age of 93.
He was originally from Chickashaw, OK. He enlisted in the Navy and went through
U.S. Navy Training Center San Diego circa 03/27/1951. His platoon was 245. His
Commanding Officer was listed as CW Johnson. My Dad was the Honor Grad, so in
the class photograph, he is standing on the CO's left side. I have the
photograph and am happy to share with anyone who is interested.

Dad went on for training at Naval Air Station Jacksonville and then Memphis, TN
before eventually becoming an Aircraft Mechanic (E-4) working on F4U Corsairs
for three years, including a stint on Ford Island, HI where he'd have to swim
out and grab the rope tethers for the PBY Catalina sea planes stationed there.

Dad was a great man and we miss him very much.

Comments:

I’m searching for information about my daddy. Jack Houston Bradley who served
in the US Navy during the Korean War. I’m not exactly sure of his commission
date but I believe it to be around 1951-1955. His date of birth is 24 August
1935 or possibly 1934. I’m looking for navy photos of him. The ones I had were
destroyed in 2000 in Houston, TX when Alicia hit.

Entered San Diego Navy Boot in December 1950. After the
Boot training I was sent to Yeoman school still in San
Diego. Then was transferred to the USS Virgo (AKA 20) and
we sailed to Korea where we spent time until 1954.

Received discharge and am still alive at 83 plus on
September 16, 2014.

If you are still alive and was in Korea during this time I
would like to exchange stories.
