A year of so ago I read a paper back book titled USS Indianapolis. It was the whole story. See if your library has a copy. Also there was a young man (boy) on a news interview who was trying to get the Navy to change it's decision from the Captain of being responsible to not being responsible. If my memory serves me, the Captain was recently absolved of his respnsibility for that disaster. The Navy even had the Japanese submarine captain testify against the Indianapolis Captain in a Navy trial. Very interesting tragic story all around.

Dear Dewayne Buckman, My father was aboard the LSD Ft. Marion 22, from his diary dated Aug, 5,1945 he has a sad story to tell of this, the worst entries in his diary, also have a news paper clipping of it, names mentioned showing three men who were rescued are Beranard Gateman,A.C. King and Erick Anderson. This bothered my father(now deceased) all of his life as how he can still see these dead men and how they had to bury them at sea in this way. Your enry is old so hope you get this
God Bless
MS Snider
