I was one of the original 12 pilot who received orders inJan 1951 to start training that would lead to our taking 4 P4M-1Qs from NAS Pax River to NAAS Miramar to NS Sangley Point, Philippines. I have contacted half of my original crew (Buno 121451), all surviving pilots (but two)of the original ones that took the planes overseas and a number of other flight crew members. I would like to contact anyone who has knowledge of any member of this unit between Jan 1951 and the time it became VQ-1.
Also I would like to contact anyone who has info on any incidents involving the P4Ms such as enemy action, accidents, humorous stories, etc. I am compiling as much info as possible so that I might possibly write a book of the beginnings of VQ-1.
