I am looking for people who may have served with my father, Lawrence F. Rodgers on the USS Henrico APA 45 attack transport during the years of 1952-1956. He served as a hot case man on a 5"38 gun mount I have many stories and some pictures of him on the ship and at a Japanese bar called the greenhouse in Yokosuka, I would love to talk with anyone who can remember this time. I would also love to talk with any ship mates of my father and go over stories. One story was of a kamikaze that flew by my father he seen the jap as he called him smiling ear to ear before slamming into my dad's friends ship, I do not know if anyone got hurt or not, there was also another story of playing pool with a friend at a bar and they were jumped by two Japanese men, my father had a q- ball in his hand and he took care of him as he said if I am not mistaken he also threw him into a garbage can? Later on the ship they were in the infirmary and the captain came to ask about the findings of a dead man? Well my dad was pretending to sleep and later talked with them about it. Please feel free to e-mail me I look forward to hearing from anyone
