Comments:

did Navy squadron HTU-1, Ellyson Field issue 'plank's to
original members? Having Served there from opening day 1950
(1-1-51 really) to mid 1952 we never saw or heard of a
being a PLANK member or knew of a squadron logo (patch)

Former CO of HTU-1 spinoff squadron HT-8 alerted me of an
upcoming reunion of HTU-1 and HT-8 vets to be held at
Whiting Field, Pensacola later this year (2013). I can find
no other info on this reunion and I have it on my 'bucket
list'. I served HTU-1 at Ellyson from opening day January
2, 1951 to July 1952 an an AT. I was present for arrival of
first helos: HTE, HTL, HUP and HO3S. I have a collection
exceeding over a hundred photos of squadron members and
activities. I'm willing to share with fellow HTU vets.
There was an RKO Pathe News film short shot there in early
1952 that would interest some shipmates: "Pinwheels of the
Navy" (terrible title, huh?) I'd be happy to hear from you
just give me a shout at dynamo32@msn.com anytime. BYE Dan
