My Dad (aka:Ronald,Ronnie,Ron)died of cancer in 1996. I was wondering if anyone had any information about his duties and his experiences while serving in the Navy from 1951-1954. (I would ask my mom, but she is dead too, as well as my grandparents.) Ron (dad) was just out of high school when he joined the Navy. I know dad, mom(Mildred) and my oldest brother John(then a baby) lived in Jacksonville, Florida for a time. I have a picture of dad sitting on a wing of a plane and when I was young (and regretfully not listening)he also had mentioned Greenland and Iceland. Dad had a very distinguising birthmark which was a loch of white hair on his forehead that contrasted his dark black head of hair. He had a very striking 3 inch tatoo of an eagle and the US flag on his upper arm. I think Dad, Mom, and my 2 older brothers moved back to Nebraska in 1954.
