I think four of the soldiers who deserted in the 60's are still alive and living in north Korea. One, a SGT Jenkins, is married to a Japanese woman who was kidnapped by the north Koreans. She is now back in Japan; he and their two daughters are still in north Korea.
I don't think these troops were kidnapped, from what I have read, they all were deserters who willingly defected to the enemy. If they come back, they will most likely be court-martialed.
