I was at Camp Dodge from May of 1968 through July of 1969 with the HHC of the 3rd
BTN 23rd Infantry 2nd Division. We rotated with the 2nd of the 23rd Mech. We did
patrols in the zone, barrier, and GP positions for the line companies, mostly for
the B Company sector. We were in the 4.2 mortar platoon which was too large for
the truce, so we only occasionally fired the mortars on targets on Crab Island the
rest of the time we worked for the line companies. We were on top of the hill
north of the ammo area. Our camp off of the zone was Camp Lawton. The Gun position
we were usually at was GP Beryl.

I'd like to hear from anyone that served at Camp Dodge, the first DMZ military
compound north of Freedom Bridge. I was there from March 1968 to March 1969. HHC
2nd BDE 7th ID. While deployed on DMZ our unit was operationally the HHC 4th BDE
of the 2nd ID. General Bonesteel wanted a 4th Brigade on the DMZ at that time.
