I got in country October 1967. I was in battalion maint. I think We have
emailed or even spoken by phone. My job was recovery. Your motor Sargent was
Joe Biela. He and I went through track mechanics school at the same time in
Ft. Knox, Kentucky, and we were both sent to Ft. Meade, Maryland to the 6th
Armored Calv.

We both went to Korea the same time. He is alive and well. Now at 70,
retired, I am a volunteer at the Livermore V.A. Hospital CLC. My volunteer
days are Tuesdays, and sometimes I go in on thursdays. I sold my business
after being a slave to my own creation for 31 years.

Sometime in the summer of 1968, I went on a recovery operation to retrieve
our mess truck stuck in the zone. There was the mess truck, and a wrecker
truck stuck in the mud. We were dispatched. Then my VTR got stuck. All in a
straight line.

It got late and we spent the night in the zone. The next day B company, Joe,
was called to get me out. It took both of us to pull out the wrecker truck
and the mess truck, they were so deep in the mud.

That year in South Korea was the best year of my life. I hope you are
getting compensation from the V.A. From exposure to agent orange. We were
exposed in 1968 between April to September. I have a ton of health issues
now all related to agent orange.

I had a double heart bypass done by the V.A. In Palo Alto. If you would like
to chat more, I would be open. I have a ton of pictures, slides and movies.
My niece lives in cotati and we go to the accordion festival there.

Our camps were Lawton in the south and Dodge in the north. I remember that
cold, freezing theater on the north side, and that old steel one way bridge.
If you ever have to go to Livermore for anything try making your appointment
for a Tuesday or a Thursday. If not, I will gladly come there to meet up
with you.

Thanks, Gary Duran, aka BUGSY

Looking to hearing from some friends that were there. We rotated between two
camps - One north of the Freedom Bridge, one south of bridges. Have some
pictures of both camps to share. One puzzle is the camp names ?

Just caught up with another guy who was there in the same unit - Burt Baca, we
spent over 4 hours talking about our time there,
