I was at Cp Stanton 78-79 (February to February). I may have mentioned
different dates before. But I was wrong if so... I just found my old DA FORM
2-1 and so confirmed I was there one year this period above I state. I'm
pretty certain I was in D-Troop. I think 3rd Plt (A/C Maint Plt). I remember
electrician James P Murphy as him and I ran pretty hard off duty in the
ville.
I think another Dennis Curran (sp?) was avionics. Kennedy was flt ops
(under tower maybe he was a scheduler for flt crews..). I actually met
Kennedy in Yongsan few years on... when I was back in Korea me then
stationed 213th Aviation Co Cp Humphreys. Yep, Kennedy was enlisted
when I knew him 2nd ID and when I met him Yongsan was a WO pilot... My
later part of tour at Stanton our Top was a man w a handle bar mustache or
just about... Real tough colorful guy! Maybe this later Top wasn't a
schooled
1st Sgt but no matter I remember having a great respect for handle bar
'stach Top. When I first got there I remember a Puerto Rican guy Sola I
think... Maybe he was Maint Plt also, but I think when I knew him he was
the first Tops orderly rm clerk... Well, maybe a Park and Kim (KATUSA)
buddies and you'd say which Park and Kim... One Puerto Rican guy I knew
I forget his name but was on the short side of height but solid strong guy I
think went SF trng... He did go that ROK SF week long course then I think
he went for US Army SF school outta A/C Maint MOS. My Plt Sgt name I
can't remember but, kind a jolly looking guy kind of fat side and maybe
thinning hair... I was Hydro, my MOS. Yep, UH-1H, AH-1G, OH-58. Lots of
12 mile road march wasn't it once monthly I think... Team Spirit(s) for
me...
2-3 mile I think was usual just about daily or at least 3X wk PT... Few X we
did like 5 mile run... Or at least once for five when our whole ---was it
Battalion or Brigade?--- ran every swinging dick that was able did that run
... KATUSAs had a Tae Kwon Do trng... I taught a English conversation
class. We had a General who? at Cp Casey wore pearl handle I think was
1911(s)? Maybe he had two or was it one? My tour a few wire strikes and I
think two crews w these strikes fatal... Two or one I remember maybe was
AHs w the electr cable in I guess I'd call it horizontal stabilizer or
anyway
stuck between a flt surface but still the one or so choppers made it back...
Who what when where why else... Well, I can't think much more to say here
is a lot already I'll stop to say except close w ...I remember Delta Blues
Inf
Plt thanks guys as well as pilots and crew who would have helped
protected our asses if the shit hit the fan... Write here if anything here
makes sense to you, thanks! Anyone for the arms guard duty? You wish
you had an overnight pass or even a day pass. Yonjugol! Cp Rice club!
KATUSA snack bar w ramen and soju... It's an umpteenth Alert Mofo so
Recall! Gary Owen/Pil Sung/if you ain't Cav you ain't shit/2nd to None!
