I'm looking for info on my unit HHC 2D BDE 7TH ID - we moved from Camp Hovey to
DMZ
in April 1968 - there was a yearbook I lost that I'd love a copy of.
Operationally we were HHC 4th Bde of the 2d ID -,Gen Bonesteel wanted a 4th BDE
HQ on
the DMZ and the 2d ID had only 3 - so we got the job. We did not rotate - I left
in March
1969. I was SGT E-5 (05C40) Commo Section Chief. I have orders awarding my 7th
ID
Combat Action Badge. Our BDE Commander was Col Hyman, Co. CO was 1st Lt Arendt.
We
lived North of the Imjin River in Tents along the road. our camp had a Beer Hall
on the top
of a hill (next to Barber shop) and you could look directly into NK from there.
We had a
large motorpool and maintenance Bn. Inf. Units (2/32 I believe) were also in our
camp. We
had a TOC in front of which recon inf. units mustered before leaving on fence
patrol.
I have some photos of OP visits for commo missions ( wiring, radio and
authentication
equipment delivery or repair)
