Just got an email from someone asking about 1/15 FA in 1971,replied but
the address, bounced so not sure ir request was legit. Here is the info.
As you can see here 1/15 is on the list for presumptive exposure.
https://www.woodslawyers.com/korean-dmz-agent-orange-disability/#h-proving-
agent-orange-korea-claims
Prior to march/april 1971, 1/15 was at camp Summerall which was just below the
river, believe HQ and A btry, then moved to camp Stanley which was futher south.

The firing batteries went across the river into the DMZ to Firebase 4P1,also
called 4 Papa 1, not
sure about svc battery. SVC battery might have been included in HQ battery.

Once a year the whole battalion had to go on a ORT Organizational Rediness
Test,to one of the
artillery ranges which were close to the DMZ,so SVC battery would have been
there.

My father was exposed to a herbicide and has had chronic lung problems and
skin allergies our whole life. He is now diagnosed with prostate cancer. He
has tried 4 times to attain disability and has been denied these 4 times. My
father was unable to work a normal job our whole life because of these lung
issues. He would become sick and spike a fever for a week at a time with
excessive chills. We thought he would die. We could not wear perfume because
he would become so short of breath. He states that this shortness of breath
began when he was in Korea. He states that he could not breath when he
returned to the States. He says that he never had breathing problems before
he went into the Service. He states that the exhaust fumes burned his lungs
and he felt like he could not even breath. He states "they worked with me
and got me to where I could at least breath". He states that these
herbicides were sprayed at his base and that vegetation would not grow
around his station. He also states that these herbicides were stored near
the motor Poole near the mess hall where he worked. I am a Nurse
Practitioner and have never seen anyone that has had allergies or COPD that
reacts as his does. He also has skin allergies and the skin on his fingers
break open as if he has had a chemical burn.

I was stationed at Camp Casey, Korea between the period March 1968 to June
1970. Of the total 40 months that they sprayed Agent Orange in Korea I was
there 27 of those months. I was a member of the Headquarters and Headquarters
Company, 7th Infantry Division. I was made aware of the spraying until
recently and I am sure that I have been affected by it.

We were the main Artillery Battalion at 4P1. We rotated Btry's every 2 weeks
A-Btry, B-Btry, C-Btry. There were other units that would come up also. But
this was our main mission for support. We also gave support from our guns pits
at Pelham, since we were just a couple of mile from the DMZ. Now AO! I never
gave it much mind why all the grass around the fence at 4P1 was always cut
several feet or was it sprayed with you know that stuff!
If anybody has any comments about this time and place please share.

I am trying to help a Veteran [Korea] obtain VA benefits for exposure to
Agent Orange. His duties take him into the DMZ where Agent Orange was
stored and used. He does have one of the condition(s) associated with Agent
Orange. Here is the confusion: It appears that his claim would be
PRESUMPTIVE if he was in a UNIT known to be in or near the DMZ. His unit
was not known to be in or near the DMZ but I have obtained a statement from
his commanding officer that his duties required him to be in the DMZ. I
also have DA Form 4730 which is the award of Hostile Fire Pay. Despite this
evidence the claim is still denied by the VA. Is he eligible to file for a
PRESUMPTIVE Agent Orange Claim?

While in country I spent 40 days on the DMZ. The first 10 days I spent at
Radar site 9. Which is the narrowest part of the DMZ. Only 500 yards between
the South and North demarcation lines. Right where the Imjin river turns
North. Then we spent 30 days, 10 days guarding the south gate, 10 days
inside at GP Collier, 10 days patrolling South of the DMZ. That's how I
earned my Imjin scout badge. We filled a lot of sandbags and Radar 9 was
real trippy. The whole DMZ was trippy. Now I have Diabetes, bilateral
neuropathy, calcification of the veins in my legs, I have had congestive
heart failure with an open heart surgery with a quadruple bypass, 3 toes
amputated. So If anyone has some good info on getting disability I'd
appreciate it. I am classified by the VA as class c. Which is disabled with
a non compensable disability. They say there may be up to 50,000 vets who
served in Korea up to 1991 that may have been exposed to Agent Orange. Hope
to get some feed back.

occurred, but never told what was sprayed. On various occasions soldiers

April 1971. I, only today, 4/16/2016, learned that Agent
Orange was being used in Korea along the DMZ during my
deployment. I discovered this during a casual conversation
with a golfing buddy, not my government nor the VA.
DISGUSTING...

Division area. Specifically, Camp McIntyre.

The VA's vague reference to units who served "near" the DMZ
is frustrating. Is "near" 100 feet, or 100 miles? Nobody
will give me a straight answer.

I have several symptoms of possible Agent Orange exposure,
but my unit is not on the Presumptive Exposure List. Can
anybody tell me if Camp McIntyre was "near" the DMZ?
Better yet, were you there and got your AO ticket punched?

I just wanted to commend anyone you served in Korea rather
on the DMZ or South for being there in harms way.

Remember the Government at first said Agent Orange was only
used in certain areas in Vietnam before they blanketed the
whole country.

Agent Orange was brought into Korea by plane or ship and
someone had to store it and truck it to wherever it was
sprayed. I am not sure what is a presumptive unit Does
anyone have a very claritive answer?.

Personnel Actions Chief by our new General to serve as the
Administrator Boards officer and traveled in and out of all
of the line units on a regular basis. I have filed a claim
based on the "at or near language" in the regulation and
its similarity to the Vietnam finding that even landing on
an airplane in Vietnam qualifies as serving in Vietnam. I
have tried my driver and clerks to verify this, but no luck
to date. I was diagnosed with Mulitple Myeloma in 1997 and
having been treated ever since. I also have Type 2

retire shortly after 1997. Looking for anyone with a

is on the presumed site. I guess my biggest question is why
werent we told. I am sixty two years old and on soc. sec
since 2007 this due to neuropathy. My doctor was completely

reason for this posting is my primary care doctor is here

VA Publishes Final Regulation to Aid Veterans Exposed

to Agent Orange in Korea

Will Provide Easier Path to Health Care and Benefits

WASHINGTON Veterans exposed to herbicides while serving along the demilitarized zone (DMZ) in Korea will have an easier path to access quality health care and benefits under a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) final regulation that will expand the dates when illnesses caused by herbicide exposure can be presumed to be related to Agent Orange.

VAs primary mission is to be an advocate for Veterans, said Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki With this new regulation VA has cleared a path for more Veterans who served in the demilitarized zone in Korea to receive access to our quality health care and disability benefits for exposure to Agent Orange.

Under the final regulation published today in the Federal Register, VA will presume herbicide exposure for any Veteran who served between April 1, 1968, and Aug. 31, 1971, in a unit determined by VA and the Department of Defense (DoD) to have operated in an area in or near the Korean DMZ in which herbicides were applied.

Previously, VA recognized that Agent Orange exposure could only be conceded to Veterans who served in certain units along the Korean DMZ between April 1968 and July 1969.

In practical terms, eligible Veterans who have specific illnesses VA presumes to be associated with herbicide exposure do not have to prove an association between their illness and their military service. This presumption simplifies and speeds up the application process for benefits and ensures that Veterans receive the benefits they deserve.

Click on these links to learn about Veterans' diseases associated with Agent Orange exposure at http://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/agentorange/diseases.asp and birth defects in children of Vietnam-era Veterans at http://www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/agentorange/birth_defects.asp.

VA encourages Veterans with covered service in Korea who have medical conditions that may be related to Agent Orange to submit their applications for access to VA health care and compensation as soon as possible so the agency can begin processing their claims.

Individuals can go to website http://www.vba.va.gov/bln/21/AO/claimherbicide.htm to get a more complete understanding of how to file a claim for presumptive conditions related to herbicide exposure, as well as what evidence is needed by VA to make a decision about disability compensation or survivors benefits.

Additional information about Agent Orange and VAs services for Veterans exposed to the chemical is available at www.publichealth.va.gov/exposures/agentorange.

The regulation is available on the Office of the Federal Register website at http://www.ofr.gov/.
