Served 1/72 Armor Company B Jul 69 thru Aug 70. Did many days north of the
Imjim rover at Freedom Bridge and on observation and listening post within
sight of the "Z". Trying to file an Agent Orange Claim with the VA but have
no documents showing exactly where in Korea I served. Have heart problems
that started a few years after returning. Any suggestions as to how to prove
assignment there?

I was in S-3 of the 1/72nd at Camp Rose and Camp Casey from August 1970 to May
1971. I was stationed with a great group of guys most of which would have
rather not have been there, nonetheless they made the best of their time in
Korea. I recognized Richard Davies from the list on this website.

I was stationed down the road from Camp Rose near Camp Pelham at the NCO
Open Mess Compound from July 69 to my ETS February 6, 1970.
My MOS was 11B10 but when I got off the bus at Camp Howze in January of 69,
they needed 3 bodies to be assigned to HHC 2nd ID duty/with the Deputy Post
Commanders Office, YOU, YOU, and YOU.
My first assignment was riding shotgun on PX Trucks and Cash Courier
Vehicles for the Post Exchange, we delivered goods to the PX's and Snack
Bars and collected daily receipts and took them to the bank at RC 4. We
lived in BOQ's (Bachelor Officer Quarters) along side civilians that worked
for the Post Exchange Service, we had our own snack bar and amenities
weren't bad.
In July 69, I was transferred to the NCO/OM Consolidation near Camp Pelham.
I was in charge of 13 NCO & EM Clubs on the division. I ETS'd on February 6,
1970. Someone has to do these jobs!

Camp Rose has a lot of good memories for me. I was stationed there in 1970-
1971. During my time with the 1/72nd Armor I was a Platoon Leader, XO, and
Company Commander for C Company. My memories with C Company include:

1. A M48 tank catching fire in the motor pool with a full load of ammunition
2. Turning in the M48 tanks for the M60 tanks
3. Rotational duty guarding Freedom Bridge at the DMZ
4. The Bob Hope show
5. The move out of Camp Rose to Camp Casey
6. And of course the great people I served with particularly 1st Sargent
White, SSG Gore and SSG Poole.

After leaving Korea I returned to Ft Hood, TX serving in the 1st Cavalry
Division until 1973 when I left the military and entered Graduate School.

I was at Camp Rose from Jan 1961 to April 1962 in Co C, 3rd MTB. 40th Armor. I
remember the cold, too much time in the field, Park Chung Hee overthrowing the
gov't, the Berlin Wall going up putting us on alert and extending our time
over there. Also, while there we started replacing our M47 tanks with M48s.
Lots of memories as an 18 year old in a strange land! Any of the guys,
Henderson (who also went back to Fort Knox in 1962 when I did), Jenkins,
Bliss, Carter, Smith, Dozier, comment if you're reading this.

I was at Camp Rose, 69-70. I was a TC in B Co. I was there when we gave our
M48's to the ROK Army and got the M60's in 1970 just about a month before I
left. I went to the Advanced Combat Acadamy for one day and sprained my ankle
in the ice-covered steps leading down from the tents to the assembly area.
Still managed to march to first-day repelling class. I attended an NCO academy
at Camp Casey for a month. I remember the Bob Hope show but I had CQ duty. I
remember getting called off the Freedom Bridge to the HQ tent at 3 am, (wind
Chill - 70), March 16, 1970, for a telegram that said I was a father for the
first time.

young 17 yrs old. I was a mechanic but spent more time driving Jeep or
personel carrier. Meet many good friends like John Hunnicutt or Mitch Wright
or Delessandro, Boyd, Fields and Larry Bacot. Wish I would of takin the time
to realize what I was seeing. Remember Mamasun in the field with her kids
digging out of the scrap bucket for food for her children. going to the
village the first time. Looking back it was quite an experience. went to the
EM club too many times. when I was young and foolish I was young and Foolish.

I spent 19 mos. at Camp Rose Jan. 1967-
Aug.1968. I served in Co. C. 1/72 Armor.
We drug the M47 tank (that sits in front
of our flag poles)down from the DMZ. We
scrounged enough track blocks and paint to
restore it back to it's Korean Conflict
appearance. I grew up and served with a
lot of great guys. While I was there, the
Pueblo was captured and a major attempt
was made to assinate President Park.
A couple of the guys that I remember
are George (Big Daddy) Spears and Hal
Weter. They were great guys! There was
another guy named Roger from California
but I can't remember his last name. My
tank was the dozer tank named EL TORO.
I worked my way up from loader to driver
to gunner to TC in 15 months. When I left
Korea I went to Ft. Hood, Tx. and served
in Co. A 1/81st Armor 1st Armor Dvn. Until
I got out in 1969. If you remember me and
some of our time together, drop me a line.

It's good to read all the stories from fellow vets. I spent 2 tours with the 1/72 Armor, 2nd Inf Div
1969-1970 Camp Rose
1970-1971 Camp Kaiser
We did weekly rotation for duty on Libby bridge. Sometimes we even ran our armor to the rivers edge to use searchlights. Attended Advanced Combat Training Academy winter 1970. Spent 11 days on GP Gladys. We had to go through Slicky Boy Corner and Camp Pelham on our way to the Z from Camp Rose. We had roving and stationary patrols on the bridge, and if think it was cold in those foxholes, we had open exposure to that cold on that 3/4 mile long bridge. We had many incidents with UI's around the bridge, We also had the 3 antiaircraft positions at the bridge. I managed to catch a Bob Hope tour at Yonjigol with Ms World from Brazil and the Gold Diggers from Las Vegas.
Keep the news up, I was recently notified our camps at Rose & Kaiser utilized agent orange
