Served in Korea from Nov. 1960 to Feb. 1962. Kennedy extended us 90 days
when the East Germans built their wall. Worked radio hill and played battalion
basketball. Took a troop ship to Inchon, 18 days, and one home, 13 days. Neither
one was what I would call a "pleasure cruise", but I was young!

I believe was at the area of Camp McDonald Barracks today. I have some photos I
can share if anyone wishes to contact me. The guards were very young Koreans and
did not know if this was once the site of an American base. My father, Jack
McCusker, served here from 1966-1967.

I was at McDonald’s Barracks Sept 69 to Oct 70. I remember the hot summers, cold
winters and wet spring and fall. Often miserable as I recall! How about those
slickly boys and field whores that would find you when you were out in the field,
miles from nowhere. If you were there when I was, I’d like to hear from you.

I got to McDonald Barracks while the Pueblo Incident was going on. We kept our M-
14 in our locker. I worked on Radio Hill I'm 74 now and can't recall many names of
my Friends What an Experience being 3 air miles from the DMZ was! My hope is that
someone will see this Post and remember me so we can relive some memories...

Was McDonald Barracks on the left side of the road at the top of the next rise
south of YongJuGol? That's where I was TDY from Casey in 1967 for 1 week.

I was in S3 7th Inf Divarty from January 1968 to Februay
1969. Intersting times, starting out with Pueblo, Blue
House and a multiple other "Incidents".
I lost four friends in other units up on the DMZ.

I can't belive the changes around Camp Casey and the
Olympics there twice.

When I got there the rice paddys were prepared with water
buffalos and the roads were dirt until we got closer to
Soul.

Served in the S3 Section, 7th InfDivarty, 1966-1967. March
2013, I was in Korea on business and was finally able to
locate what we knew as McDonald Barracks. It is now manned
by the ROK Army. In the old days, there were no paved roads
heading NE from Munsan. The current road is modern and fast
with no military checkpoints. It continues to RC#1 and
beyond. The countryside is covered with commercial farms and
modern business. However, it is nothing like Seoul. There
are no more homes with thatched roofs. I could not enter the
post or take photos. The ROK military was on heightened
alert because of the ongoing North Korean threat. The area
is no longer as rural or as beautiful. Enjoy your memories! U/7

93f20 Artillery Ballistics meteorologist assigned to McDonald barracks but TDY
at a 2nd I.D. compound 3 miles south of McDonald, can't remember the name
of this compound. In country from Nov. 1968 to Dec. 1969. Lots of spraying
just below our metro-site in ammo dump--having respiratory problems and
possible diabetic nerve pain in feet. Anyone having been tested for A.O. or
know the symptoms????

Anyone remember Julius Van Holten?..

I am looking for anyone who may have served with my father. He was in
Korea 1962-63. he would have been about 26 or 27 years old. He spoke with
the Dutch accent, he was from Holland and English was his second
language. He was married to a woman from England. He had one son with a
severe heart condition and a second child on the way. On his right bicep he
had a tattoo, it is a heart with a scroll through it with the name "Beryl"
inscribed. I believe he was 7th infantry.
I am his daughter. I'm a veteran ot the Gulf War '90-'91. My father has
passed some time ago. I wish I had taken the opportunity to learn more of
his military experience since that seems to be the only thing we had in
common. If anyone out there can share stories or pictures I would be truely
greatful. Evev if you did not know him but you were there about the same
time...please write. I would like to get an idea of what it may have been like
for him. Thank you so much.
