Rich,
Here is what Army Regulation 670-1 says about the wartime soldier sleeve insignia (usually called a combat patch):
"In Korea between 27 June 1950 and 27 July 1954, both dates inclusive. Also from 1 April 1968 to 31 August 1973, those personnel who were awarded the Purple Heart, Combat Infantryman Badges, Combat Medical Badges, or who qualify for at least one month's hostile fire pay for service in a hostile fire area in Korea. "
From what you say and what the regulation says, it sounds like you qualify.

March 15,1969 a medevac helicopter crashed at the southern boundry of the DMZ in a snow storm. It was carrying 2 or 3 wounded (Co B, 3/23rd Inf, 2nd Inf Div) from a firefight with North Koreans earlier in the day. All were killed, pilot, co-pilot, doctor, medic, crewman, and the wounded infantrymen. God bless them all. David Benbow (Co C, 3/23rd Inf, 2nd Inf Div '68 &'69)
