My father was Sergeant First Class Francisco Aviles with the All-Puerto Rican 65th Inf. Reg. He served there. At the present, I am trying to get the All-Puerto Rican 65th Inf. Reg. 3rd Inf. Div. the recognition they have been denied for so long. As we know, to date, we have had books and movies regarding the All-Japanese American 'Nisei', the American Natives, the African-Americans. YET, nothing has been said much of the Puerto Ricans of the 65th Inf. Reg.
I believe my uncle Juan Aviles-Figueroa served in the tank corps. Unfortunately, he is bedridden with diabetes and is now compleytely blind. Very frail.
