I was in the US Army Signal Corps supporting the JSA from March 1966 to December
1966. One of my tasks was to tape record the Military Armistice Commission
meetings. I was always stunned by how the North Korean negotiators would use the
meetings as a stage for spreading propaganda. It reminds me how important
truthful information is. We all need to be vigilant for disinformation on social
media as well as public media. Trustworthy information is vital to the survival
of our democracy.

I would welcome the opportunity to share experiences with those who served there
with me. I still have a copy of the In Front of Them All yearbook from that time.

Hello, my grandfather Bartholomew Joseph “Joe” Parkinson served in the US Army
from Oct 1 1953 to some time in 54-60 depending on the paper. Date of separation
was August 18 1954 but it says he we honorably discharged in September 1960. He
served as a Clerk typist for part of his tour. He went to Camp Chaffee in
Arkansas from Dec 15 1952 to Feb 6 1953 in the 5th Armored division. From the
records I have, he was in Korea and Japan on leave. He was taken to Fort
Sheridan in 54 when he left. I have a news clipping from a home news paper about
a Allan A McDonald from Michigan and pictures of him with a friend named Tom and
a friend named Glenn. I know he took USNS General C C Ballou to Korea. Just
hoping anyone knew him. He was my hero and a great great man. He passed away in
2022.

Please feel free to email if you have any stories or knew him.

My father, from Mechanicsburg, PA, served with the 724th TROB during the
Korean War. I know he went over sometime early 1951 through at least the
spring of 1953.

He never wanted to talk about the war, until about 6 months before he passed
away from cancer. He told me about having to sleep in a bombed out
warehouse of some sort. He was wondering what ever happened to some of his
buddies from his time there. I did do some searching, but he didn't have a
lot of info to give me.

I would love to learn more of his time there in Korea.

Wesley Bailey who helped to save his unit under very heavy enemy Chinese
fire near the DMZ on July 17, 1951. His remains have still not been

off enemy fire so his unit could retreat. He has a living comrade who was

I know it's been an entire lifetime, but I have been thinking about our time
in Dragon Valley, in First Tank (1/72nd). After that posting, I spent
another 3+ years in the Armored Cavalry (2/3 ACR) at Ft Bliss, TX. Did a
couple interesting Operations in Europe and then transferred into the
National Guard in Illinois when my father died and left mother reeling. I
married, have four children and 3 grandchildren.
Robert, if you still live, I want you to know the incredible positive impact
you had on my life, and I wish to thank you from the bottom of my heart, for
taking me under your wing and caring what was to become of me. I hope this
finds you and that you share this with your wife and family. I still recall
your wife adding a few messages to me in your letters. A tradition I paid
forward with some young men in my Guard unit, who needed the attention. A
remarkable tool to impact a young man's life. G-d bless you Robert, your
family and may the Lord keep you until we meet again.
Sincerely,
Gregory

This is a pretty long shot, but I'm searching for anyone that may have
known or has information that could pertain to my grandfather, Daniel Kinney
(1928-1995) from Montana, who was in the Transportation Corps in Korea as a
locamotive engineer. I have very little information on his time there,
none on deployment dates (Fold3.org and other records sites have no
information), and only have recently established any of his Korean war
history other than the family oral history of 'grandpa drove trains in
Korea'. He had a friend who was known as "Doc" (pretty thin clue, I know)
and I have uncovered images from his time there with train locomotives #s
2017 and 2033. My research has revealed that the Third Transportation
Military Railway Service was in Korea, and there was a number of railway
operations battalions, but I have not found any info on which he may have
served.
If there was anyone who may remember him, recall the Locomotive Numbers, or
have a line on muster roll documents or resources that I do not know about,
it would be greatly appreciated!

I am looking for a Brigadier General who was commanding
officer of this large field exercise. I was assigned to
8th Army TDY from 38th (ADA) Artillery Brigade (4/44th)
Headquarters Battery and 4th Battalion Headquarters. The
TDY involved a large field exercise that included 82th
Airborne jump along with, as I recall, units from 2nd ID,
maybe 7th ID and I Corps, not sure who all was there.
Anyone else know about this large exercise. I was the
driver, RTO and classified documents clerk for Brigadier
General (I don't recall his name, I need his name). In fact
I still have my log book of radio conversations I have
during the exercise. The log books I was able to retain
are dated starting 19 Mar 1969. I really don't recall how
long the exercise last or where it was exactly. As I
recall, it was pretty far north. This is very important. I
was subjected to a defoliant exposure and the physical
results are now very active in my body. I have been going
back and forth with the VA since 2008. My claim has been
denied, my appeal has been denied. I just need more proof.

Greetings, Take a look at our web page the link of which is below.

http://www.36engr.cityslide.com

The purpose of this web site is to re-connect with old buddies, exchange news and views, revive old stories, renew old acquaintances, and indulge in a bit of nostalgia. The contribution of photographs by various individuals provides enjoyment to all and is a tremendous help in accomplishing this purpose. This web page is focused on all those who had some connection with the 36th Engineer Group in Korea during the conflict. So in Korea we knew lots of people and now all this time has passed and you wonder. Just what happened to them all? Locating and finding old friends or acquaintances from about fifty years ago from your time in the service can be difficult. It's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of the world and lose track of the people who made that point in time very memorable to us all.

Would want to post on my web page or maybe just your Email address? Feel free to make a post or a statement in my Guest Book.
