HHC&BAND SPT CMD 7TH INF DIV
EIGHTH ARMY APO 96207
January 1970 I was stationed in Camp Casey , Korea, MSA 31.
I worked as CQ for a few months until I received my security clearance
to work as a guard of the area. Part of our duty was to provide security
to our area. Before our tower shift we would be on stand-by at which time we
would have to pull guard shift with maintenance crews, and land scaping
companies, to cut the grass and brush in the area and around the perimeter.
Included in this task was to accompany the crews while spraying defoliating
agent around the bunkers and inside the area for visibility for the tower
guards. We would walk along side the truck with barrels of chemicals. During the
night the area would be protected by dog handlers. I was one of the handlers in
the Months of January and February 1971. On March 14, 1971, I made the trip to
Fort Lewis Washington, which was also the day the 7th Inf. Div. was Disbanded
from Korea according to my superiors. I know that we used the chemicals in the
area. I have been suffering with elevated blood pressure that I presume is from
the chemicals being distributed.

There is a move afloat to expand the use dates of the Rainbow Herbicides in
Korea so if you served pre-67 or post 71 and you know about herbicide use in
Korea here's what we need you to do. Write an affidavit of true fact as to who
you are, where you were stationed and when you came in country, your MOS and
what you were assigned to do Plus what you saw or smelled. Along with your
affidavit send a copy of your form DA 20 showing your unit and a copy of your
DD214 to Steve Johnson perutrekker@hotmail.com. He has a soil scientist who has
been to Korea recently that attest to the pollution in the soils and if
necessary I know about 5 others who can peer review his study to verify it's
truth. Steve needs your documentation by the 10th of December so he can get
John Wells interested in helping with the push. Richard Blumenthal from
Connecticut is leading the charge so Ladies and gents we have got to make this
pile of information so stinky that DOA and the VA can't sweep it under the rug,
pat it down and not trip and fall over the pile and gag on the stench.
