My grandfather, John F. Huber, took command of 1st Platoon, E Company, 23rd Infantry (31 men the day he took over, as he claimed) around 10 OCT 52 and was in Korea until the end of the conflict. He earned a Silver Star and Purple Heart on 16 OCT 52 for an action on Hill 198. I am well educated on most things that he did, as I have many of the letters that he wrote home and have also seen the 2ID’s reports from the time he was in theater and found him listed in a few different places.
I am West Point Class of 2019 (So Freedom Will Reign) and commissioned into the Armor Branch. I am just looking for any stories, photos, etc that anybody that knew him or remembers him might be able to share... thanks!
