I'm looking for any information I can find relating to my grandfather, George
Norman Stevens JR from Maryland.

He was drafted into the Army in November 1951, went to Camp Breckinridge, KY for
basic training, and according to newspapers was assigned to the 40th Infantry
Division in January 1952. He was then sent to Korea in June 1952 and assigned to
the 5th RCT, 555th FAB, 72nd Engineer Company, again, according to newspapers.
He was a Sgt.

He passed in 1996 when I was 6 and never spoke of his military service.

Any information on his brothers, who also served would also be greatly
appreciated, as they have also passed on.

James A Stevens - Maryland. Inducted into Army in October 1952 or August 1954
(conflicting newspaper articles), and was stationed at Fort Richardson, Alaska
for many years. Obit states he ran heavy machinery for the 5th RCT sometime
between 1953 and 1955.

John Robert "Bob" Stevens- Maryland. Rank of Cpl. Part of the 101st Airborne
Division, discharged in October 1954 after 2 years. Newspaper article stated he
was in the 223rd Infantry Regiment, 41st Infantry Division, Company L.

Comments:

Greetings,

My father, James "Jimmy" Mackey is a Korean War Era U.S. Army Veteran (1954-
1957) who was stationed in (then) Stuttgart, West Germany, Korea and Hawaii. He
was an All-Army Lightweight and Featherweight Boxing Champion. Upon discharge at
Ford Ord, California, he turned professional and started fighting on the west
coast and Pacific rim before eventually returning home to South Florida and
continuing under Angelo Dundee out of the famous 5th Street Gym in Miami Beach (
today's "South Beach"). We used to have numerous articles, fight cards,
newspaper/magazine clippings and photos , etc. of him taken during his service
but they were lost over the decades since. Would appreciate any leads as to
where we may locate extant records from that period.
