My dad, John W. Ford, was wounded in Korea. He never talked about it much, and most of his service records were lost. He was from Battle Creek, MI.
He was in the 45th Division, Thunderbirds, Company G. He arrived on the front lines on 6/12/53, was wounded in action on 7/3/53, received the Purple Heart and transferred to HQ Division on 9/21/53. He was later promoted to Sgt. and taught typing in Korea after the armstice.
I know he was in Yong Dong Po and Chuncheon. Can anyone tell me what other battles he may have been in?
He did tell me once that he was in a battle where Company H was hit very hard - only a couple guys from Co. H came back off the line. Anyone know what battle that would have been?
Any information or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
