I was a lieutenant in the US Army stationed in ASCOM City and I have many great
memories of the gentle and welcoming people and atmosphere in and around Seoul and
Ascom…I did a lot of growing up there in my mid-late 20’s…currently retired in

Company B 13th Supply and Services Battalion from 1968 - 1970... worked in supply
point 50, lived in the Quonset huts.

Visited in 2000, everything is the same, same old tile in the orderly room with
the corners of the tile curling up, a real time warp. Had a nice visit with the
ROK company that is there now.

Hi
I’m trying to locate my birth mother. The name she went by was Connie. Her friends
were Kim and Sherri. My Dad was in the Army and was stationed in Korea at Ascom
City in 1962. His unit was 516th Ordinance Company. I’m also trying to locate the
two soldiers he was friends with also from the same unit. I only know their last
names: Mixon and Granison. Spelling could be off. I’m trying to locate the two
soldiers to see if they have any information on the three women. Any information
however trivial it may seem would be greatly appreciated. I understand the
sensitivity of this matter and I will keep it private. Please email me. My Dad and
I are searching together and we thank you.

Thank you.

This is directed to anyone who served in Korea at ASCOM Depot in 1963. I just ran
onto a Korea vet in the same situation as my husband was in with NO records for
his time in Korea or for the 6 months he spent in the hospital. Unlike my Skinny
Leggario was not Ghost Walkers. IF you were a Ghost Walker your records are with
the Department of the Army classified up to their eye teeth. I just found this
out 1 week ago and I am in the process of forcing them to give me my late husbands
DD 214 or making them produce one with the right end date which would be the day
he died. It is very suspicious that people who were in Korea during the last of
the 1st Cav era are finding that records are missing.

Like one of the post said, all of the Army personal coming onto Korea at that
time, came through Ascom City. I was a 42echo (optican) so ended up stationed
there. 6th Medical Depot (6). I was there on a 13 month tour from 1971 to1972.
The way I remember it, the 121 Evac hospital was there too. It was at the end of
71 or beginning of 72 much of the 121 burned down one night. I was living in
the village when I got word the post was on fire. I got back to the post to see
the end of the building complex fully engulfed in fire. The post fire department
was doing all they could but did not knock it down. The wind was strong and
pushing the fire thru the center hall to the quanset huts towards the officer's
mess. The Korean fire department and saw that the fire moving down the complex
and moved in to cut it off. I think the fire stopped 1 or 2 buildings before
the officer's mess. I took slides of the fire the next day, and developed them
myself. These slides were used in a presentation by Master Sargent Melvin
Johnson at the first investigation done on the post. This fire is probably why
the hospital was moved in 72. At least this is the way I remember it. I'm 75
now so it was a long time ago. I went by the name Howdy

**Please look at some photos!**

My uncle Michael Flores was an Army photographer stationed in Korea in the
early ‘60s.

He’s passed on but I have 2 photograph books from his time in Korea.
One of the photo books has pictures from a Bob Hope USO show.

I know these photos are treasures and would love to know more about them.

I’m also a veteran that served in Korea.
