I was stationed at camp Carol 16th Medlog batallion and provided support to the
signal battalion. October 2, 2002 -May 1 2003

Does anyone remember the kidnappings that were happening on base at that time,
or the younger Korean nationals throwing fire sparks onto the base.
This would have also been immediately following the Yangju highway incident,
also known as the Yangju training accident or Highway 56 Accident, occurred on
June 13, 2002, when the little girls were alleged by Korean nationals to have
been run over by an M60 armored vehicle.

I was also wondering does anyone remember the billeting numbers they were
remodeling then that was at the base of the mountain from signal's barracks that
had asbestos?

Stationed at Camp Carroll Depot (Now Camp Carroll Army Base) from May 1968 to July
1970 (two tours; 26 months).

I was assigned to Headquarters Company and worked at the Motor Pool.

Enjoyed being a Village Rat in Suk Chong Dong! We had Marshall Law in those days
and had to be off the ville' streets by 10 PM.

I arrived a 18 year-old feral city kid and returned to the world, a 20 year-old
young man! A great period of my life!

I was stationed at CCD from Nov 66 till Mar 67. First assigned to Co B as a
clerk, but was sent to HQ. I have had 2 strokes and am missing many memories, but
if anyone was there about the same time could you remember some of the same things
as I do, like there were small arms being repaired there and tested before being
shipped to Vietnam.
I also remember the smell and know that we had a burn pit that some times out
stunk the paddies. Hope someone can help me remember what was happening at CCD
from late 1966 to 1967. Thanks in advance.

Was stationed at Camp Carrol Depot in 1969. 55 years ago. We only had 125 soldiers
there. I actually had orders to teach 30 soldiers who were below 6th grade level
in education for their GED. We were very successful. The Depot got many injured
soldiers from Vietnam. I was stationed with John Tushaus who was the US Javelin
champion. Great memories.

I was stationed at CCD from Sept 67 to April 69. I had arrived there as a 63h20
wheel and track repair man. At arrival I was to assigned to company A. When Msgt
Ussery aproched the group I was with and asked us if anybody wanted to be an MP.
It was then I began my 18 months there as an MP. I was there during the Pueblo
incident, from capture to release. We went from tailored kackies and polished
brass to fatigues. We worked 12 hour shifts 3 days and 3 nights then 3 days off.
Spent to much time in the village drinkinging and chasing girls. I had extended
for 6 months so I would be able to ETS when I returned to the states. I had one
of best times I can recall while there. Met a lot of great guys there. I would
enjoy very much to hear from anyone that I served with there. I am 76 years old
at this date and still above the dirt.

during the Agent Orange Riots. Definitely interested is speaking to anyone there
during the late 60s and early 70s. I have a few year books I would like to share

My father was stationed in camp caroll from 1970-1971. He now has Parkinson’s.
We have tried getting help from the VA but for some reason it has been 3 years
and still nothing. He was MP and says he remembers seeing spraying. We are
trying to prove his Parkinson’s is from agent orange exposure but so far it
sounds like it may be hard to prove since he wasn’t in the DMZ. He now has
dimensia so it’s hard to learn much more about his time there. Wondering if
anyone who comes across this page might have known him? Thank you all for your
service.

I did two tours in South Korea during my military career. First was from 1988
to 1989 At Camp Carroll as an MP and the second was from 1999 to 2000 at Camp
Essayons as MI. I still tell stories of my times in Korea like how the videos
we rented were often recorded over porn videos with later running longer and
staff duty would forget to check before playing them for the base. I often
wish someone would find the guy that was constantly taking our pictures and
post them on a forum like this.

I was stationed in 293rd Signal Company, 36th Signal Battalion, Camp Carroll
from 96 to 97. During that time there was a lot of construction and excavation
on the facility. They were building a sports field or something and huge
amounts of earth was being excavated, piled up and covered with rubber tarps.
Dump trucks kept moving the soil out of the installation. There was a powerful
chemical reek in there air which really sucked when doing PT in the mornings.
Today I have Carpal Tunnel, Cardiac Arrhythmia, PSVT, and Central Sleep Apnia.
I have documentation in my medical records of the symptoms on Active Duty but
no diagnosis until recently by the American Lake VA.

I was stationed at Company B Camp Carroll Depot January 67 to August 69. I
first worked at the H-Shop in the shop and then was given the job of Shop
Clerk. Worked for MSG Lowe and CW4 Rambetsee, then there was MSG Paul Ramey
& MSG Smith, really good guys. Later on in my tour, got promoted too SP5 and
became Admin NCO for the Directorate of Maintenance at the Post Headquarters
Building 2nd floor, worked for LTC Charles Brown, SGM Theodore R. Currier,
GSC Mr. Eslinger. SGM Currier was the best, great man to work for, Korean
War & Viet-nam War Veteran, Army Career Man. Someone I will never forget. I
married a beautiful Korean Gal. We had Identical Twin Girls born August 22,
1968 at the Hospital in Wagwan. 2 days after they were born I had too go to
Seoul American Embassy with photos of the girls to get them Passports & Visa
to allow them to be in Korea because they were American Civilians. We got
reassigned to Ft Belvoir, VA in August 1969. My girls turned 50 years old in
2018 & pretty healthy and Beautiful.
I really don't believe that during the time I was stationed at USACCD that
any agent orange was brought there and buried, because the Military was
still using it in Viet-nam and that period of time Viet-nam War was pretty
hot and intense fighting (TET Offence for one) going on. Now I would have
known if the Agent Orange was brought to Camp Carroll because I worked in
the Headquarters building and I had a secret security clearance.
I do know that in the summer months the US Army sprayed the whole post and
(Suk Chong Dong) the villiage with DDT every night because of the BUGS, they
were terrible. The DDT could very well have some effect on some of the
Illness that fellow Soldiers are experiencing. I have 2 year books from CoB
from my tour. Nice to look thru and reminisce. Served with some good guys.
Our Company B had the honor of having SFC Gerry Crump MEDAL OF HONOR
RECIPIENT ASSIGNED TOO OUR UNIT!

Stationed at Camp.Carroll 1989 - 1992. My son was born in 94 mentally
disabled, and as of 2015 went schizophrenic over night. None of family in
last three generations had these types of illness. While at Camp Carroll
some soldiers were medivac out due to sudden illnesses of kidney failure
and cancer. One of my soldiers thighs quadtrippled in size. God knows
how many others and their children (born after being stationed) are sick.
In
1991-1992 all water was shut off and water buffaloes were brought in.
There is no doubt in my mind that agent orange was all in our water. Any
testing that was done after February 1992 was done with different water. I
come from a military family (115 years total from my father to his
children).
My father died from parkison disease which Hampton VA DENIED he had.
Our government first didn't recognize the diseases Vietnam Vets suffered
from until they set up clinics for Vets I. 2005. These types of BETRAYALS
are UNACCEPTEABLE!!! Everytime I look at my son I see the Ulitmate
price of FREEDOM!! Some say death is. I say it isn't. It is the disabled
living who will continue to pay the price unti their DEATH!!

I was stationed at Camp Carroll Depot from 1966-1968. I was
a Sergeant in charge of a supply distribution center that
shipped and housed all kind of liquids, parts, weapon parts,
vehicle parts and shipped them all over South Korea to all
the Military Units at various posts and bases. Waegan Korea
is where the 44th Engineers fought, and when I departed in
1968, there was a broken heart located on the side of a
mountain in memory of those that fought and died. Just as
you leave Camp Carroll and entered Suk Chong Dong, just
passed the security gate, on the right, was a road that led
to the Officers Quarters. During my stay at Camp Carroll
Depot, I was responsible for receiving requisitions from all
assigned units in South Korea and 7th US Army, and shipping
them or have them ready for pickup, by the unit that made
the requisition in a timely manner. Conexes after conexes
were being shipped out to various units. Barrels of liquids
spilled and was later replaced with others we had on hand,
while attempting to load barrels and drums in conexes by
fork lifts. I along with other personnel was put on alert
and was flown up to the DMZ when the USS Pueblo was taken by
the North Koreans. During our stay at on the DMZ we were
told to position ourselves in the prone position, with
loaded weapons, pointing in the direction of North Korea. I
have no doubt that some of the liquid inside barrels and
containers contained some type of toxicant while stationed
at that location. I am presently taking medication for
diabetes, and chemotherapy for bladder and lung cancer. I
have also filed a claim with the VA for my sickness.

Good afternoon my brothers and sisters,

I would love to hear from anyone stationed at Camp Carroll
that are having any type of health problems that they have.
I was stationed there for a year from June 1981 to June
1982.

A couple years ago I started having health issues that my
doctors couldn't explain. 6 months ago I was told by VA
doctors that I have stage 4 cancer. All of the health
problems including cancer are symptom's of Agent Orange
exposure. The VA is treating me but the doctors want to
change the subject whenever I mention AO at Carroll. I have
don't a lot of research on Carroll and all the crap that
has been buried there over the last 45 year.

I would love to talk to any vets that have issues. Please
contact me at my email address. cambot2009@hotmail.com

Sincerely,

Charles Powell
