My dad, Robert Bruce Burns sailed from Inchon to Wonsan
North Korea on 14 Oct 1950 to 28 Oct 1950, HQ Co 1st Marine
Division as a Postal Chief on the Marine Phoenix. Anyone
who may have known MSgt Burns please feel free to contact me.

Comments:

I returned to the US on Oct 6 54 from Inchon Korea (Sept
24) with the 2nd div. I was transfered from the 519th MP Bn
station in wonju . I knew that last names starting with A
or B were KP duty so I asked to work with the electrition
on board. Good duty . I went to Korea aborad the Gen
Darby.a big difference. I was sure glad to get home and see
american signs and cars with bright headlights

Comments:

Sailed on the Phoenix from San Diego on 9OCT1954 to Osaka,
Japan to join the ATco/1/4 at Nara, Japan. There were about
1500+ Marines on board, going to Japan or Korea. I remeember
at least a two week trip and it became cold as we went the
northern route. Lots of sea sick Marines 2 days out of
SD.Most men spendt all of the trip on the weather deck.
