Comments:

my Dad Lawrence C. Hammer served in Korea from Feb 1951 and was discharged on
Apr. 1st 1952 from Camp Kilmer NJ. While in Korea he was a sharpshooter, Radio
man and asst. squad leader. He received 2 bronze stars. I found all of this
information after his death because he never spoke of his time in the war with
any detail, not about the battles, He told us how cold it was in the winter and
how hot it was in the summer, how he walked through the rice patties that were
fertilized with human feces... etc. but not any details of the fighting. I
wanted to find out which battles took place while he was there and if there are
any records of who got bronze stars and for what reason. He was PFC 1st class
in the Army. 1745 (thunderbirds) Co. A 279th INF Regt. If anyone has any
information that would be great. I also have a book ( sort of like a year book)
about the 45th Thunderbirds,,,Thanks! Cindi (Hammer) Petrllo

My father, Raymond Chaffin served in Korea in 1951-52. I am not sure what unit
he was with but he has a vest with the SCARWAF emblem, Manu Fort, Korea, 1951-

would like to give them to the rightful owners. My dad was a cook at the base.
He never talked much about his time and i was too immature to ask questions
before he passed. If you know of anyone who served there, please contact me.

Fernando Ortega
65th Infantry G Company is what I know.
My father passed away 8/27/2012. I know that there were
records burned, his were part of this incident.

I would like to hear from anyone who knew my father or
stories about the regiment? G company 50-54? Korea
We have some medals, I know he did 3 campaigns.
Hoping to hear his story. He was very quiet about his
time there. Before he passed he remembered the names
of his friends. Those of his company who did not come
home. It meant a lot to him.
His Daughter Lisa Sparks
