This is an exploration regarding the service of the above captioned service member. CPL May was commonly called Bruce. He hailed from West Virginia.
A review of his DD Form 214 indicates the above unit of assignment as his last unit. However there is no indication as to which Battalion he was assigned. He served or was given credit for 1 full year in Korea. He was a draftee who was inducted on Sep 8, 1950 and released from AD June 4, 1952. He received wounds as a result of action in theater
Bruce, my cousin, is now 81 years of age, and is suffering from altzheimers, and sadly does not recognize family members, let alone recall the events which lead to his release from AD. It is my understanding from debriefing other members of the family that his position was overrun by the North Koran. He and others were left for dead after having been severly wounded, with the enemy removing their clothing.
Bruce was later found and medevac'ed to a hospital ship and returned to CONUS. I am looking to find others who may have been assiged with Bruce or who know of the specific events regarding this matter. Would appreciate hearing from anyone who may have known Bruce during this time.
