My father, Corporal Robert R. Johnson, served as an infantry soldier in Korea from early 1952 through late 1953. He was assigned to the 7th ID but I do not know which battalion or company. He said he was a line infantry rifleman but was later assigned as the mail clerk in the headquarters platoon of his company, or headquarters company of his battalion. He was awarded the CIB, so I'm sure he saw action, although he never talked about it.
He would have been age 20-21, white, brown hair, brown eyes, with a crossed left eye. He was drafted and from Grand Rapids, Michigan. He was married and his wife gave birth just before Christmas, 1952. He survived the war and out-processed at Ft. Sheridan, Illinois.
Does anyone remember him? If so, what are your memories of him? Do you know what military actions he experienced?
Thanks, and thank you ALL for your service to your country.
