My father, Thaddeus W. Malec, also known as Ted, served in Korea. He never spoke to me about it but I have pictures of him in the Army. Based on a patch on his uniform he was in the 2nd Infantry division. All I know, based what his family said, he was a cook and sometimes helped the chaplain. He passed away 2-28-07 and I want to know about his service. I hav written to the Records area in St. Louis and they have nothing. He died at the Hines VA Hospital in Hines, IL. If he was able to get medical treatment there, there should be proof of his service somewhere. Can anyone help me? I would greatly appreciate it. If you remember him, please write me. Thank you.
