I was with the 101st MPCID in kokura japan in 1954 when a sgt Burnett (no remembrance of his first name joined our organization. I was a friend of his and he told me a few things that I will try to rememger. He would cross between the American and North Korean lines wearing civilian Korean clothing with rice balls for food. He would go north and contact people in North Kores. At the end of his mission he would go south and recross the lines. He said this was the scariest part of the mission because no one knew he was crossing through and could be shot from either side. He wore a ring about a quarter of an inch wide with a hump on top which could be opened showing a cavity which he said would contain a cyanide pill which was to be taken in case of capture. Hw said when he returned to Japan he was sent to Tokyo military hospital where the phsychologists would deprogram him. He would not and could not talk about the missions. He was a belly gunner on a B17 in ww2. aRisk taker??

I am looking for information about any covert operations after the July 1953 armistice that had to do with searching for unreturned POWs inside North Korea, possibly in the Wonsan or Wonsan bay islands area, during late 1953 thru 1954. If there is anyone with information please call me at 615-804-8859, or send me an e-mail at cwhill@sprynet.com . Researching late father. Thank you.
