My father, Sam Suitca is in failing health. He is now 77 years old and has begun talking about his experience in Korea for the first time that I can remember. He served with the U.S. Army 101st Airborne, 5th Regimental Combat Team. He arrived in Korea (Inchon) on the USS William Weigel in December 1950 and served on the front lines. He mentioned that he was two hills away from Pork Chop Hill. He remained in Korea until May 1952 and was discharged from the army in November 1952. He also mentioned that he was injured when concussion bombs hit his unit after someone lit a cigarette at 3:00 am as they were about to take their hill. If you can connect with any of this please contact me. I am working on getting his medals framed and will also try to obtain the purple heart that he never received or applied for. Thank you, I am very interested in learning more about my father and he is interested in hearing from others who served with him.
