I was at camp Liberty Bell 71/72 boy was it fun. Like a cruise ship without all
the steps. Nothing like agent orange in the summer time and asbestos in the winter
time, yessireebob, how could anyone not love it.
Did I mention I sustained a traumatic head injury got amnesia and this is how the
army described it LOL I guess it could have been worse.

I was stationed at "Camp Hovey", Korea. From September1963 thru January1965,
with the HdHqCo,(4.2 HY. Mortar Platoon),1st Bn,32Inf. 7th Division KOREA.
Located at the eastern end of the valley, adjustant to Camp Casey and north, of
Seoul,KOREA and a short drive to the DMZ Hq. CAMP HOVEY living conditions, in
those days was "primitive" at best, troops still housed in platoons size tents,
potty & showers, were iffy, especially during moonsoon & winter seasons, Prior
to my arrival, the assassination of President Kennedy occurred. I was in my
last week of ATI training. Confusion and unsurety abound at Fort Polk, Infantry
Taining Post. I arrival with the unit, was on alert and I spent the next 3
winter months, in the field training in the coldest, windest, frigging!!,
weather I ever experienced. All the NCO'S in the platoon, were Korean War
Veterans, and we trained hard over the same grounds, trenches, and foxhole they
did. I believe we sent alot of rounds, way north of DMZ, from time to time, when
needed in support ????. I grew up a military dependent in Japan, during the
Korea War I had a great for those men

I was a truck mechanic at the 121st Evacuation Hospital from 6-63 to 7-64. I did some research about ASCOM and found out it was phased out and ended its operations January 1, 1973. Most of the ASCOM complex was turned over to the Republic of Korea Ministry of National Defense on June 30, 1973. The village was Bupyong. I would also like to know what happened to the surrounding village, but have not been able to find out. Should some one who knows contact you please let me know.

Near Bupyong? Is that name correct? Was the village outside the compound called Panmunjom? (not the one on the DMZ). Is the 249th still there, or even Ascom? Or is the area renamed? I know the Dreamboat Club in Sinchon has to be gone.
