I'm looking for anyone who may have served with my Uncle -
Thomas Jackson Matthews - he went by Jack.

He entered the Army on May 25, 1951. His DD Form 214 was
lost in the 1973 fire. In order to search for other
records - we are looking for the unit he may have been
assigned to, his place of seperation or date of seperation.

If anyone remembers serving with Jack Matthews - please
email his family. Jack never had children and his last
survivors are his three sisters who would like to get a VA
grave marker for Jack. Please help!

Comments:

In 1958 I was DRAFTED into the Army at 18 years of age. I
was sent to Fort Sam Houston, ( San Antonio, Texas ) for
medic training. Afterwards I was sent to Fort Dix, New
jersey and the 4 th Field Hospital a M*A*S*H* outfit, but I
could never find any information about it at all; other than
we supported the Army there during 6 months of the year and
the other 6 months we spent in the Field Training. I have
tried to find all or just anything about the 4 th Field
Hospital, but never could. Back in 1958 - 1960 there was a
lot going on and the unit had just came down fron Fort
Devins MASS. and stationed at Fort Dix to be sent over if
anything came up. For one
Viet Nam. but never was and held back for any and all
support if it came up. I'd like to know more about the 4th
Field then I know now. Thanks for any and all information
on the 4 th Field hospital to which I served my county in
peace time for two years. Looking forward to hearing from
some one soon. Al (Wes ) Wesley age (72 years)

Comments:

Starting to do some research on my dad's military career, 22 years in Army, from about 1935 thru 1957. Found references to his being in the 6th Field Artillary , and the 103 QM group. Anyone know anything about them? He was totally in Pacific during the war years and before, and was with the Kawagawa Military District and McArthur's GHQ group in Yokohama. Dad was then a 2nd Lt, Gilbert S. Herman.

Thanks.

The airforce bought the plane took it to Japan the Army got it and we know nothing of its use until the airforce got it back. Can anyone help? Thank You. Glenn Murphy

Hi!

I know in my help with cold injured veterans - we have had alot of problems finding records that were burnt in the 1973 fire at the National archives in St. Louis, but through the help with alot of kind people - we have found out if your DD214 shows that you were there, and the dates are right - then you can use the buddy system - which means that you have a couple of men from your battalion, write letters of support of your injury or where you were at to aid in helping get benefits that are due to you.
