My father, Jack Harmon served in Korea in the 121 EVAC Hosp. He drove ambulance. He was drafted into the Army in 51, went to Korea in March of 52 and was discharged in March of 53. He and my Mother are both passed away. I am trying to recreate his service medals, patches and awards to be framed with his flag. The National Personnel Records Center has lost records for Army military personnel for the period 1912 through 1959, and some Air Force records in a fire. I only have his discharge papers. I know he got shrapnal in his back from his ambulance being shelled but the Purple Heart is not on his discharge papers. He threw out all his medals and ribbons when he was discharged. I'm looking for anyone who might have knew him and also what patches, ribbons, and medals would have been generally used. I believe the 121 EVAC fell under the 2nd Army but it may have been the 2nd Army Corp, Different patch. One thing that might ring a bell with someone is that my father won a Webley 38 from an English officer in a poker game. the gun has typical korean custom grips. They are the black lacquer with mother of perl inlaid dragons.
