The only thing I ever heard my father talk about Gen. Ridgway was a big error his buddies made (my dad's, not Ridgway's). My father was with a Ranger company, and he indicated that since they were an attached unit, supplies and materials were always hard to come by, so they made due by 'liberating' whatever they needed. Well, as they were repainting/remarking a recently re-appropriated vehicle, someone finally noticed this one wasn't like the others. It had cushy aircraft seats, special suspension, more radios and antennas than your average jeep... it was obviously special. The question 'hey, where'd you get this jeep?' was quickly followed by 'you dumb-asses, we stole Ridgway's jeep'. They returned the mis-appropriated vehicle immediately, and fortunately, they were not caught doing so.
