I was at Parks AFB in Flight 12 from approximately March 21, 1952 thru May
of 1952. I remember that the Drill Instructor
(as they were called then) was Sergeant Zameroni and his 'assisstant' was
Corporal Cannon. I don't recall their first names. As the base had been
newly opened at that time, we were detailed to do a lot of 'policing' of the
areas, such as parade grounds and barracks. Barracks were 2-story wooden
frame buildings with open bays and concrete floors in showers, no toilet
stalls,or other 'niceties'. Officers were still wearing U.S. Air Corps
pinks and greens. We were not issued G.I. clothing or uniforms for a short
period of time after going there. We were finally given green one-piece
fatigues and black brogands (ankle high boots). I don't recall that photos
were taken of the flight. As for training before being assigned to an
active AF base I was given a bypass of the Photo School at Lowry AF Base in
Colorado because I knew a little about photography, such as knowing what
'hypo' was. So I was given orders from Parks directly to Luke AFB, Arizona.
My job at Luke was as a Gunnery Film Assessor.

Comments:

I was at Parks AFB in July and August of 1952. I no longer remember the
Squadron nor Flight Number. I do remember that the TI was a Sgt. Farnsworth.
Flights 3285 and 3287 remain in my memory, but I have no idea why. If
information surfaces I can be contacted at rleger@cfl.rr.com.

Comments:

I went through BMT at Parks AFB Sept. 26 (prox.) to
Dec., 1952. TI was A/2C Onken (sp?) I'm unsure if was
in Flt. #304 - sounds familiar. Stayed at Parks as permanent
party until transfer to Amarillo AFB in 1953.
