I had a lapse of memory it is not KC97,which was a tanker.
it was an XC99.

I was stationed at Lajes from Dec 52 till June 54 as a
weather observer.I was on duty the morning the B36's
landed.I believe there were 12 or 13 in the group.I was there too when when the KC97 made a visit.It had the wings and engines of a B36 minus the 4 jet engines.The
fuselage was super size for cargo.I was on the weather
station roof watching the KC97 as it was parking on the
tarmac.when he revved up the 3 right wing engines to turn
there were lot of Portugese hats a flying.I have no
pictures of either event.
