I am writing a story on my dads life. He passed away last
June. I know he was stationed at Osan in early 1954..not sure
for how long or what he was doing there. His name was Robert
Lorenzen and would have been about 30 yrs. old when stationed
at Osan..he was a pilot...he loved to fly! Any information
anyone can give me about him or what he flew and where would
be greatly appreciated. E mail is>> LTakala@aol.com
Thanks and thank you for your service!

I was stationed at Osan-Ni Air Force Base (K-55) in February 1954 through
January 3, 1955. I've never heard it called "Sampson AFB" before now. I
was stationed in the engine shop for the 67th Fighter Bomber Squadron
and we had F-86F and T-33 aircraft. In November of 1954 the 18th Fighter
Bomber Group moved to Okinawa to cover as air support for the "Ta Chen"
Islands. I was transferred to a T-33 squadron ( I forget the Number) for
the remainder of my tour. I transferred to the 35th Fighter Interceptor
Group in Yokota AFB, Japan. I was again assigned to the engine shop; we
had F-86D aircraft ( sabrejets with afterburner) on this base. One of my
brothers waas later assigned to K-55 but I don't know the squadron nor unit.
