My father Aubrey B. Chapron served during the Korean War this was when all
military branches were desegregated. Choosing not to return to Louisiana he was
discharged from March Air Force Base in Riverside California with the rank of A2C.
He also chose it to be his final resting place

has recently passed. we are getting her plaque made up and
was trying to find out what rank she held. according to our
local American Legion she was a A2c/T, can anyone tell me
more about this rank as I can't find any info on it.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR SERVICE AND SACRIFICE

Look up www.usmedals.com. They have listings of all medals, insignia and most unit patches for the various service branches and wartime connections. Regards,

At the time I was deployed to the Far East in August 1950, the AF blue uniform had not been issued to me. I was still wearing the OD army uniform and did so til I rotated in August 1952. Although, I paid for a blue uniform out of my pocket, it did not consist of a blue blouse, but a blue IKE jacket. In the winter of 1952, I still had not been issued a blue overcoat and since they cost about $40.00 at that time, I felt I had been cheated. I applied to the supply officer for a free issue of a blue overcoat but was refused. One saturday morning we were to have an 'open ranks' inspection. The uniform of the day was to be 'Blue class A uniform with overcoat'. I fell into formation with my blue uniform and an Army OD overcoat. Needless to say the commander hit the high cloud ceiling. When I informed him I had been refused the issue of the blue overcoat, like every one else, he immediately call out the supply officer and the overcoat was issued.

Now to the rank insignia. As I recall, the new AF cheverons were authorized with the army OD uniform. I have pics of the mixed OD uniform and AF stripes. I was still wearing the army (S/Sgt.) stripes in 1952.
