Comments:

My father was there and he told me the story the plane came down full of machine
gun bullets and he crash landed the plane was a mess but he was ok they got him
out he was in Kimpo airbase which is the front lines so they very quickly moved
the entire plane to suwon which was a little south so they would not know the
location of the front lines as kimpo air base was the front lines. This was in
1952.

Comments:

I was walking from the flight line to the mess hall when I
saw the plane overhead. It was not one of our Sabre Jets
and, as I watched, I saw the nose wheel door drop off. It
did not take too long before word got around that it was Ted
Williams and that his plane was seriously damaged.

I have come to the conclusion that I was wrong about the F4U. The old memory is not what it used to be (~_~).

I remember seeing a photo of the incident in the Stars And Stripes. I believe the aircraft was a F4U Corsair, Prop driven Marine aircraft,

I was there when he landed but do not have any information on it. If I am correct he landed wheels up and he was not hurt. Also do not think the aircraft was badly damaged.

Comments:

I think Ted Williams had to make an emergency landing at K-13
after his jet was damaged by enemy fire.Does any one have
recollection of this happening?I think it was in 52 or 53.It would be interesting if someone would post that information.
Thanks,
Mac
