We arrived at Yokohama, Japan by ship from California in June 1953. This was about the same time the C-124 crashed in Japan. After our processing and two week stay in Japan, we boarded a rusting troop ship out of Yokohama, which sailed around Kyushu and docked at Pusan, Korea. In the evening we boarded a train in Pusan that took us to Suwon with stops along the way to let off troops. I imagine that we went to Korea by ship and took the train because the C-124 crash was still being investigated and those planes were grounded. Are there any Vets who remember this event? So, finally I arrived at Suwon and did my one year tour with the 319th Fighter Interceptor Squadron at K-13.
