Did anyone serve with my Uncle A3C Raymond E. Hadley, he was on that plane,
and my dad, his older brother, and his cousin would never tell me anything.
Heck, when I joined the Air Force, none of them said a word to me that
Raymond was in the Air Force and that we were in the same Career Field,
Aircraft Maintenance! At least I think that is what his unit did. 8th
Maintenance Squadron, 8th Maintenance and Supply Group, U.S. Air Force. I
want to know what his job was, and how long he was there, if anyone went on
R&R with him aside from that trip of course. It was horrible how he and his
fellow servicemen died and that no memorial is at the crash site, or on his
base, which I also can't seem to find on a map because only Korea is on the
records. I have seen YouTube videos of Tachikawa AFB, where the plane took
off and the crash site, by locals and old film shot by Air Force families,
so I got to see the last things he saw leaving the runway that day, and
where he may have gone on base to hang out, which was comforting to me. Wish
we could have known one another and shared our Air Force experiences
together. Dad was an Army Lifer, and did visit me when I was at Sheppard
AFB, TX and Pease AFB, NH, but he still didn't talk about Raymond to me. I
found out he was Air Force by going to the family plot after dad died in
2000, by his Veteran Marker. It was just in the past few years that the
Korean Tachikawa Project was available online, and I found all the news
stories and first hand reports, even the Medical Examiners reports. I never
took HOPS when I served, seemed scary as hell to me. When I finished
training at Sheppard, and had a few weeks training on the F-15's at Langley,
I never enjoyed flying commercially either. Too much monkey business on the
Flight Line for my liking, and I began to see and hear things on commercial
flights that freaked me out frankly. If you knew my Uncle, it would be great
to hear what you knew about him. Thank you!

Saw article in S&S while at Elmendorf. Had a friend who
was a pilot of one and he had 11,000 hours at the controls
and retired when the plane was retired. C-124 was AKA "Old
Shaky". It was under powered and I sweat BB's on one from
Elmendorf to McChord. Slept on the pile of parachutes in
the rear to keep from worrying myself sick..

We finally obtained the Stars and Stripes article and other
data to be able to add all the men lost on the plane on
June 18th 1953. It has been a long time coming.

I have been trying for years to gain info on that C-124
crash; I was on the USNS Simon Buckner heading for Seattle,
WA, when I heard about it, and just about passed out; I had
just returned from duty at K-2 Korea on that plane, or one
like it; All I know is what I read in the ships newspaper
63 years ago; I did not keep a copy;
