Comments:

I am the daughter of Robert "Bob" Sturges, commander of the 28th Maintenance
Sqdr., who flew every mission over 4 years with Don Covic on the Command
Decision out of Kadena (we joined him there for two years and I well
remember the CD). A pilot from his teenage years (albeit illegal), he ended
his three war flying career with the retrofitted C-47s in Viet Nam (his
comment was: "I started my Air Corp career flying this plane (I thought it
was B-25s in North Africe) and ended my career in it in the USAF after three
wars ". I think his biggest regret was not be able to fly
fighters...probably just as well as he was somewhat of a maverick who once
buzzed our house in a C-47! .I currently live in Tucson, AZ and would enjoy
communicating with anyone.

I would enjoy hearing from anyone as my nephew also joined the Air Force and
is making a career of it (but not as a pilot).

Sincerely,
Gayle Sturges Morris

My father-in-law has the same issue he was stationed in Okinawa from 1955 to
1957. We have prostate cancer. I am looking for herbicides that he may have
came in contact.

This is not a coincidence.

Comments:

I served on Kadena AFB 1952-1954. I am searching for anyone that was stationed there during that period who can recall if herbicides were sprayed or used on the Base. I have prostate cancer and claim that it was caused from herbicide spray while on Okinawa. The DOD and Air Force deny that herbicides were used to control the shrubs and grasses around the runways, etc. Can anyone verify my claim. Thanks
