Comments: Sergeant First Class Franklin was a member of the 23rd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Infantry Division. He was seriously wounded by the enemy in South Korea on May 18, 1951 and returned to duty on July 30, 1951. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on September 21, 1951. His close friend Frank Kestner describes Don Franklin and their experiences together in Frank's Remembrance entry.
