DPAA: Ensign Donald Edwin Adams, who joined the U.S. Navy from Wisconsin, served with Fighter Squadron 74 embarked aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard (CV 31). On August 14, 1952, piloting an F4-U Corsair (side number 1403) he departed the Bon Homme Richard on a strike mission against targets near Pukchong, North Korea. During a dive over the target, his aircraft crashed and burned. The exact cause of the crash is unknown. Witnesses reported that there was no sign of a parachute and that there was no chance the pilot could have survived the crash. Ensign Adams' remains were not identified among those returned to U.S. custody after the ceasefire.
