Comments: Master Sergeant Ruska a veteran of World War II. In Korea, he was a was a crew member of a B-29A Superfortress with the 372th Bomber Squadron, 307th Bomber Wing based at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa. On January 31, 1952, while returning from a combat mission in Korea, his aircraft lost contact with its base. He was listed as Missing in Action and was presumed dead on January 29, 1953.

DPAA: On January 30, 1952, a B-29 Superfortress (serial number 44-62083) with a crew of 13 departed Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, along with nine other B-29s on a bombing mission against a railroad bridge near Sunchon, North Korea. The pilot made a routine radio check-in with base thirty minutes after takeoff; this was the last contact made with the aircraft, which failed to return to base. It disappeared from radar over the East China Sea, approximately 220 miles into its trip. An extensive search was conducted, but neither the aircraft, crash site, nor crew were ever found.
