Comments: Corporal Speicher was a member of Company F, 223rd Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division. On June 14, 1952 near Minarigol, North Korea, he was participating in an assault on an enemy position. When his squad was pinned down by machine gun fire, although wounded, he left the safety of his position and charged the machine gun emplacement. Again he was wounded but continued entering the bunker and killing two enemy soldiers with his rifle and the third with his bayonet before dying of his wounds.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. John W. Speicher of Gray, Pennsylvania.
