Comments: Sergeant Seltzer was a member of the 223rd Infantry Regiment, 40th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on April 13, 1952. Paul Xanthull: I first served as Oscar's platoon sergeant, and before we left Japan I became his first sergeant, of medical company 223 rd. Inf. Regt. 40th Inf. Div. He was a good soldier and a well trained combat medic. When his brother came to our location in Korea and requested a few days with him, I am so glad I was able to persuade the CO to grant his wish. On early Easter Sunday, when a Chinese patrol infiltrated his company, Oscar was killed while protecting his fellow soldiers. I have always remembered this event, to this very day. I know that Oscar is now in the company of our God of all mankind. PAX
Son of Michael Seltzer and Mary Marie Seltzer. Nephew of George Lebeaux of Brooklyn, New York.
