Comments: Ensign Hall was the pilot of a F9F-5 Pantherjet fighter with Fighter Squadron 163 aboard the aircraft carrier USS PRINCETON (CVA-37). On March 17, 1953, while on a combat mission north of Trachon, North Korea, his aircraft received a direct hit by anti-aircraft fire, crashed and burst into flames ten miles southwest of Songjong, North Korea. His remains were not recovered.

DPAA: Ensign Joseph Spence Hall joined the U.S. Navy from California and was a member of Fighter Squadron 153, embarked aboard the USS Princeton (CVA-37). On March 17, 1953, he took off from the Princeton piloting an F9F-5 Panther, (Bureau number 125495) on a combat mission over enemy territory in North Korea. ENS Hall's Panther was shot down by automatic weapons fire southwest of Songjong, North Korea. An aerial search of the crash site saw no evidence of ENS Hall's survival. His remains have not identified among those returned to U.S. custody after the war, and he is still unaccounted-for.
